The “METAL ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Full Armor Parts Set for Enhanced ZZ Gundam” was originally announced earlier this month as part of the Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ 40th anniversary celebrations, although Bandai initially kept most of its contents and final price under wraps.

The complete reveal now shows that this is considerably more than a simple armor pack, with detailed missile launchers, movable equipment, and one of the largest weapons associated with Full Armor ZZ Gundam all included in the set.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ originally aired in 1986 as the direct sequel to Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, following Judau Ashta after he becomes involved with the Argama and eventually takes control of the powerful transformable ZZ Gundam during the First Neo Zeon War.

As Neo Zeon’s Mobile Suits became increasingly powerful, the ZZ received a series of upgrades that first produced the Enhanced ZZ Gundam before additional armor and weapons were fitted to create Full Armor ZZ Gundam.

That final configuration appears near the end of the anime and gives Judau’s machine substantially more protection and firepower, with additional armor covering much of the torso, arms, waist and legs.

Bandai’s new set recreates those additions as removable parts designed specifically for the separately sold METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Enhanced ZZ Gundam, meaning the base figure itself isn’t included.

Hajime Katoki has supervised the sculpting and colors across the release, continuing the detailed mechanical appearance and printed markings already used on the Enhanced ZZ Gundam figure.

Several sections of the additional armor contain opening missile launchers, revealing individually sculpted warheads underneath rather than representing the weapons as simple surface details.

The biggest addition is the enormous Hyper Mega Cannon, a weapon closely associated with later interpretations of Full Armor ZZ Gundam despite never being used by the Mobile Suit in the original TV anime.

Mechanical designer Mika Akitaka illustrated Full Armor ZZ Gundam carrying the weapon after the anime had finished airing, with the configuration appearing in Japanese publications before becoming closely associated with both Full Armor ZZ and the related FAZZ design.

The new METAL ROBOT SPIRITS version draws heavily from that familiar interpretation, recreating the cannon with a large targeting unit, exposed energy cables, and extensive mechanical detailing across the weapon.

Soft material is used for the energy cables so they can move with the weapon, while a multi-axis connection between the cannon and backpack allows it to be repositioned without leaving the completed figure locked into a single firing pose.
The Hyper Mega Cannon can also be mounted over either shoulder, giving owners more freedom when positioning the completed Full Armor ZZ Gundam within a display.

One limitation comes directly from the Mobile Suit’s additional equipment, as the Full Armor configuration can’t retain the Enhanced ZZ Gundam’s full combination and G-Fortress transformation features while all of the armor is attached.
The armor can be removed when owners want to return the figure to its Enhanced ZZ Gundam configuration, preserving the transformation features built into the separately sold base release.

Bandai’s Enhanced ZZ Gundam is itself a major new figure for the anime’s anniversary, using die-cast components and newly developed exterior parts while retaining its separation into Core Fighter, Core Top and Core Base alongside its G-Fortress transformation.

The Full Armor Parts Set is one of four closely connected premium figures Bandai has prepared for Gundam ZZ’s 40th anniversary, joining the Enhanced ZZ Gundam, an updated Geymalk [Re: Coordinate] and the first-ever ROBOT SPIRITS Quin Mantha.

The “METAL ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Full Armor Parts Set for Enhanced ZZ Gundam” will be priced at ¥13,200 (approximately $85 USD / £63 GBP), with Japanese pre-orders opening through Premium Bandai on September 18, 2026 at 5:00 PM JST.
Japanese orders are scheduled to ship in April 2027.
