With over 200,000 positive reviews on Steam and a Metacritic score of 86, Vampire Survivors became a huge success in 2021 thanks to its addictive roguelike mechanics and refreshingly accessible gameplay. Polygon writer Justin McElroy, in his 2022 review of the game, described it as “a deliciously perfect pairing that seems all but self-evident once you’ve tried it.”
Now Poncle, the independent studio behind Vampire Survivors, is back, alongside Auroch Digital, with a game described as “Warhammer meets Vampire Survivors.” Promising the same “bullet heaven” gameplay popularized by Vampire Survivors, Warhammer Survivors is officially due out on Nov. 10 — around the same time as both the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Grand Theft Auto 6.

Warhammer Survivors promises to mix the “relentless and charming pixel-vomit gameplay” of Vampire Survivors with “the globally renowned grimdark of the Warhammer universes,” according to press statements. The game will feature more than 40 playable characters from across the Warhammer 40K and Age of Sigmar universes, each with their own unique weapons and stats.
Of course, a game described as “bullet heaven” is nothing without its arsenal, and players will have over 75 weapons to choose from, ranging from the Boltgun to Astartes chainswords. In a love letter to Warhammer hobbyists, players can even fight off hordes of enemies with Nuln Oil, which flings black liquid down onto the battlefield, damaging groups of enemies and making them more vulnerable to fire damage. (It’s inspired by the black paint hobbyists use to shade Warhammer miniatures.)
Taking a page from the highly-praised accessibility of its predecessor, Warhammer Survivors offers a low barrier to entry. The game costs only $7.99 to preorder on Steam, where a free-to-play demo is also available for download. The game will also be available to play on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch & Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
